Test Engineer Contractor

Our client is seeking a highly motivated Test Engineer Contractor to support testing operations for the Natrium Reactor. You will act as a test engineer contractor assisting with engineering and full-scale laboratory testing activities.

The primary responsibilities include supporting the design and execution of high temperature liquid sodium and salt related testing activities. You will develop test plans, design test fixtures, select instrumentation and data acquisition and control systems, perform testing activities, and perform post test data analysis and documentation.

Tasks:

• Collaborate with internal customers to translate conceptual requirements into actionable test specifications, including design input, instrumentation strategy, and success criteria.
• Will serve as test engineer supporting experimental design, operation, repair, and analysis of tests to supporting the Natrium reactor with an emphasis on high temperature liquid sodium systems.
• Coordinate cross-functional efforts including fixture design, control system integration, and lab space planning, leveraging technicians, designers, and facility personnel as needed.
• Design and select instrumentation for testing, based around data acquisition and control hardware and software, to meet experimental test objectives.
• Develop and document test plans, test designs and test procedures for experimental work.
• Conduct data analysis and generate test reports.
• Support continuous learning and application of nuclear industry best practices in order to maintain the highest quality of engineering design and proactively identify process change/enhancement opportunities.

Key Qualifications and Skills:

• Bachelor's degree in applicable field of Engineering.
• Alkali metal or molten salt testing and handling experience is preferred.
• Three (3) or more years of relevant experience in a testing / research and development environment preferred.
• Experience with post-processing and documenting experiments.
• Experience in design and integration of data acquisition and control system platforms.
• Experience with hands-on assembly and operation of test systems.
• Experience working with fluid systems is preferred.
• Experience with multiple types of testing (R&D, Acceptance, Validation, Qualification).
• Ability to work on multiple tasks concurrently during a given work week.
• Excellent writing and communication skills.
• Safety conscience.
• Ability to operate within a lightly structured environment where test development requires a mix of standards-based guidance and first-principles problem solving.
• Familiarity with engineering tools such as LabVIEW, Solid Works, Jira/Confluence, and the Microsoft Office 365 suite is preferred.
