Description
Come join our Human Services Energy Assistance Team! Looking for a New Opportunity? The Energy Assistance Program is hiring 2 full-time project-based Energy Assistants that are funded through the Low-Income Households Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) for the new season that begins October 2026. These full-time positions will receive full benefits and will end in June or July 2027. These positions require working in the office at least 2-3 days per week and remotely for the remainder of the week.
This may change based on program need. To work remotely, the candidates must have high-speed internet, and a private office space.
We are looking for dynamic individuals with excellent computer and math skills, who can accurately review and calculate various income sources. They must be able to provide direct services and interview applicants in-person, by phone, and through our online website to a very diverse population including low-income, disabled, seniors, people with limited English and Veterans. These individuals must have the ability to quickly and continuously learn and retain program-related information.
They can communicate professionally and effectively when encountering disgruntled or challenging customers in crisis. The successful individuals are able to handle high volumes of paper and digital applications while ensuring the protection of personal information. BASIC FUNCTIONTo interview low-income clients and establish their eligibility for grant funded energy and weatherization programs. Process necessary documents for compliance with regulations.
Job Duties STATEMENT OF ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES- Assists clients in person and on the telephone in correctly completing forms; reviews forms for accuracy; requests additional information as needed; calculates eligibility and answers questions regarding eligibility.
- Answers telephone; respond to questions or routes calls to correct party.
- Reviews client files to ensure that all documents are signed and completed per contract compliance.
- Provides information and referral to Community Service Agencies.
- Enters information on the computer in specialized format, including application, program or financial data.
- Receives and routes incoming mail; may deliver mail to Post Office and maintain mail log.
Job Duties
- Provides client training in Energy Conservation.
- Assists client in budget counseling.
- Schedules phone interviews; assists elderly, handicapped and homebound clients with their eligibility.
- Assists with appointment scheduling.
- Performs related duties as required.
One (1) year of experience in Energy/Weatherization programs performing a variety of office work, interviewing and computer experience; OR, any equivalent combination of training and/or experience that provides the required knowledge and abilities. LIHEAP Energy Assistance Program experience preferred. Must pass job related tests.
Preferred QualificationsLIHEAP Energy Assistance Program experience preferred.
Special RequirementsA valid Washington State Driver's License is required for employment.
