Dhaka Technologies Limited is seeking qualified and experienced Public Safety Communications Call Takers to support a District of Columbia Government client. This role is critical to ensuring efficient emergency response coordination within a Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) / Emergency Communications Center (ECC).
The selected candidates will serve as the first point of contact for emergency and non-emergency calls, ensuring accurate information gathering, documentation, and dispatch coordination in a high-pressure public safety environment.
Key Responsibilities- Operate automated call-handling systems to receive and process emergency and non-emergency calls.
- Accurately enter and update call information within the Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) system.
- Monitor response activities of police, fire, and EMS units.
- Provide callers with clear instructions, including life-saving pre-arrival guidance when required.
- Transfer or direct calls to appropriate departments or external law enforcement agencies as necessary.
- Maintain complete and accurate documentation of all incidents.
- Relay critical information promptly and accurately to responding units.
- Update and reclassify incidents as additional details are obtained.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum one (1) year of experience working in a Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) or Emergency Communications Center (ECC).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively in high-stress environments.
- Typing speed of at least 25 words per minute.
- Strong computer proficiency and familiarity with dispatch or data entry systems.
- Demonstrated ability to remain calm, focused, and decisive during emergencies.
- Ability to follow established procedures and jurisdictional protocols.
- Fluency in English (written and spoken).
- Flexibility to work shifts assigned by the jurisdiction.
Experience in at least two (2) of the following areas is preferred:
- Call Taking
- Law Enforcement Radio Operations
All contract personnel must comply with applicable District of Columbia government policies and procedures, including HR and progressive discipline policies. Work is performed onsite at the designated DC government facility.
