Requirements for the state of the candidate at hiring time.
- Minimum Age: 18
- Citizenship: U.S. citizen or legally authorized to work in the United States.
- High School Graduate or GED required.
- Felony convictions as an adult: none.
- Felony convictions as a juvenile: reviewed on a case‑by‑case basis.
- Able to read, speak, and write English.
- Vision correctable to 20/20; ability to read small prints and respond to visual displays.
- Veteran preference points available.
- Typing Test: 40 WPM, 90% accuracy. Online typing test within 90 days of written exam. Four attempts allowed every seven days.
- Written Examination required.
- PST Personal History Statement required within 7 days of passing required exam(s).

- Automatic disqualifiers: drug usage (including marijuana, stimulants, hallucinogens, heroin, etc.), abuse of controlled substances while in a criminal‑justice capacity, failure to disclose information, criminal activity (any adult felony, misdemeanors during employment in law enforcement, domestic‑violence convictions or orders).
- Employment disqualifiers: lying or falsifying information, unprofessional or inappropriate work history, poor attendance or conduct.
- Other disqualifiers: failure to meet minimum qualifications, dishonorable discharge, unlawful status in the United States, failure to participate in required assessments, inability to meet essential functions of the position.
