Overview
Are you passionate about helping and supporting teens in school and want summers off? The Behavioral Health Student Assistance Professional (BHSAP) provides individual and group counseling support to students impacted by mental health issues and trauma. You will develop positive relationships with students, provide prevention and early intervention services, and promote students’ mental wellness. This position is part of a unique team of professionals who meet weekly to support each other, grow professionally, and network.
This position will serve Nine Mile Falls School District. It is 7.5 hours per day, Monday through Friday, for 190 days following the typical school schedule. The position will begin in August of 2026 with a start date to be determined.
Responsibilities- Collects and evaluates data for the purpose of improving school climate and student success.
- Collects and interprets data for the purpose of determining appropriate programs for implementation and referral.
- Participates in multidisciplinary team (MDT) to facilitate referral and coordination of supports.
- Conducts screening, monitoring, and follow up for students referred from MDT.
- Consults with parents, staff, and community agency personnel for the purpose of developing intervention goals and coordinating service plans.
- Coordinates a variety of activities (e.g. student assistance program) to provide continuity of services for students, in and out of school, to promote success.
- Facilitates educational groups for identified, at‑risk students to alleviate isolation, cope with anxiety, identify support resources, and enhance coping skills.
- Maintains individual student records and files (e.g. evaluations, screenings, reviews, interventions, student recovery, reintegration programs) to document activities in compliance with program evaluations.
- Monitors students’ grades and attendance to evaluate program effectiveness.
- Prepares a variety of written materials (e.g. case notes, statistical reports, pre/post follow‑up) to document activities and convey information.
- Prepares and presents educational information to staff, students, and parents on behavioral health topics to increase awareness and responsiveness.
- Provides follow‑up and aftercare to students referred to outside services to assist in transition and functioning.
- Provides individual and group counseling and support to students and families to improve functioning and meet identified goals.
- Provides technical assistance in establishing comprehensive intervention programs to deliver services in accordance with ESD objectives.
- Attends meetings with the BH ESD COVID response team.
- Performs related duties as assigned within the general occupational series and responsibility level associated with the employee’s classification of work.

The role requires lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; significant fine finger dexterity; 60% sitting, 20% walking, and 20% standing. The job is performed in a generally hazard‑free environment.
ExperienceExperience working in substance use and/or mental health is required; experience in a school setting is preferred.
EducationBachelor’s degree in a related field is required. Master’s degree or enrollment in a master’s program is preferred.
