Job Description

We are seeking a Medical Assistant for a specialty physician practice to join our team. You will perform routine administrative and clinical assignments to keep our medical facility running smoothly.

SALARY IS BASED ON EXPERIENCE.

Responsibilities
  • Fill out pre‑procedure intake forms prior to each procedure.
  • Document vital signs during office visits and procedures.
  • Assist the physician in positioning patients for procedures.
  • Maneuver the fluoroscopy (low dose X‑ray) machine for positioning under physician direction.
  • Monitor selected aspects of patient assessments.
  • Observe patient’s general condition.
  • Review medical history with patient and/or family.
  • Take pulse, blood pressure, finger sticks, temperature, and EKG, if needed.
  • Review reason for visit and medication information.
  • Maintain a safe, orderly patient area, ensuring patient safety and proper hazardous material handling; maintain biomedical waste procedures.
  • Maintain medical equipment and supplies and inventory of these items.
  • Use appropriate medical terminology and abbreviations and document appropriately in the medical record.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and seek assistance when needed.
  • Maintain effective interpersonal relationships and assume responsibility and accountability.
  • Phon e in all prescription refills once approved by the physician.
  • Print out the daily schedule.
  • Obtain prior authorizations for patient procedures and follow up with insurance carriers.
  • Perform backup coverage for the receptionist (answer phones, patient intake, collect copays, schedule follow‑up appointments, etc.).
  • Perform all other tasks as directed by the Practice Manager.
  • Handle all administrative duties in a timely manner.
  • Perform routine clinical tasks to support medical staff.
  • Communicate with insurance companies for proper billing procedures.
  • Escort patients to exam rooms.
Qualifications
  • Previous experience in healthcare administration or related medical fields is a must.
  • Familiarity with medical billing procedures.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Strong front‑office skills and computer experience; office is 100% electronic medical records.
  • Detail oriented, self‑motivated, and able to keep patient flow moving.
  • Ability to remain calm and focused on patient needs in a stressful environment.
  • Effective communication skills with patients and staff; teamwork skills; ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks.

We are a Pain Management Medical Office offering an excellent benefits package, including 401(k), medical insurance, and vacation time. Our office is open Monday to Friday and closed on Saturdays and Sundays.

Salary is based on experience and open for discussion.
