Family Practice​/Primary Care Physician Assistant

Looking for one/two NP or PA provider who are familiar with preoperative clinic setting and can hit the ground running in this position as soon as possible. Provider will require privileges; temps can be obtained in about 3-4 weeks. We are looking for two .75 providers or one full time with an additional .5 provider. Schedule will be ideally two providers per day, Tuesday-Friday 7a/7:30a start (Staggered start if two are scheduled), 10 hour shift.

OT to apply after 10 hours per day. Assignment will be at least 3 months but highly likely to extend until new perm providers are recruited and onboarded. This would be an ideal role for someone who is looking to transition long term into PSJH, we will hire a locum into a perm position if it is a good fit.

In this role, the provider will evaluate patients preoperatively and optimize patients for surgery through physical examination, laboratory tests and EKG. These providers work closely with RN coordinators, dietitians, medical assistants and patient schedulers to ensure that patients receive full and complete preoperative optimization. Provider will also partner with anesthesia to identify and mitigate potential barriers to anesthesia. Chief of Perioperative and Interventional Services and Chief of Anesthesia serve as provider resources.

Patients are scheduled for 60 minute appointments with 20-30 minutes of that being provider time. Familiarity with certain infusions as we also have an anemia clinic that serves pregnant and anemic patients. Patient surgery types are varied and include thoracic, vascular, ortho, plastics, and gynecology. Provider reviews all patient history, medications they need to stop before procedure, lab work, History and Physical for patient before procedure, go into history and update history.

Need to understand insurance laws. Ability to determine barriers to surgery and opportunity for mitigation of barriers as well as referrals to additional specialties such as cardiac or thoracic.
