Our Downtown Hospital Inpatient Rehab Department is seeking an Occupational Therapist (OT) to evaluate patients regarding the application of a wide variety of therapeutic interventions for rehabilitation of physical, functional and developmental disorders.

- Evaluates and treats patients regarding the application of a wide variety of therapeutic interventions for rehabilitation of function/occupation and developmental disorders.
- Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span of patients served.
- Oversees and insures a comprehensive rehabilitation program designed to meet the physical, cognitive, psychosocial, and immediate environmental well‑being of the patient.
- Promotes patient/caregiver self‑determination by optimizing outside resource utilization to achieve the highest level of independence.
- Coordinates and communicates with various disciplines or services involved in patient care.
- Coordinates efforts toward discharge goals established at initial evaluation and during the episode of care.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Provides direct patient care and/or consultative services for children, teens, and infants in the PICU, PEDs oncology unit and the premature and/or medically complex infants in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU).
- Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span of babies and children served.
- Oversees and ensures a comprehensive rehabilitation program designed to meet the physical, neuro‑developmental outcomes, supports infant/child mental health and immediate environmental well‑being of the infant/child.
- Promotes infant/caregiver/parent self‑determination by optimizing outside resource utilization to achieve the highest level of independence.
- Supports nurturing the infant‑family dyad.
- Coordinates and communicates with various disciplines or services involved in the infant/child's care.
- Coordinates efforts toward discharge goals established at initial evaluation and during episode of care.
- Acts as an infant, child, and family advocate.
- This is an advanced practice area and not appropriate for COTA or new‑graduate OT.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Therapy required;
Master’s degree preferred. - New Mexico Occupational Therapist License.
- BLS certification required at time of hire.
- Detailed knowledge of occupational therapy in terms of what and how work is to be done as well as why it is done.
- Less than one year experience in occupational therapy.
- Basic computer skills required.
- Basic understanding of the rules and regulations of the specific setting.
