Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university.
- Occupational Therapy Assistant Certification/License and 2+ years of relevant experience (experience in a school and/or pediatric setting(s) preferred).
- BLS/CPR certification.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated initiative and the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to stand or sit for extended periods, see and read a computer screen or printed material with or without vision aids, hear and understand speech at normal levels, speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly in person and on the telephone, and follow oral and written instructions.
- May include frequent walking, standing, stooping, lifting up to approximately 25 pounds, and occasional lifting of equipment or materials weighing up to approximately 40 pounds.
Job Description:
Caseload and details of the position/classroom type will differ based on school location – Recruitment Specialists can discuss in detail upon application to connect you to the classroom that best suits your experience and skill set. Contract through the 2026/2027 school year – 37.5 hours per week. Contract follows the academic district calendar.
Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) Duties:- Evaluate patients by observing movements, performing standardized tests, and listening to concerns to establish an individualized plan of care.
- Render competent care using exercises, stretching, equipment, modalities, and hands‑on therapy to manage pain, increase mobility, and prevent further injury.
- Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with patients and motivate them to reach goals.
- Provide continuity of care by communicating pertinent patient information with the rehab team, physicians, and other disciplines as needed.
- Document all patient care in accordance with department policies.
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, regulations, and infection‑control policies and protocols.
$1,575 – $1,800 per week.
