Respiratory Therapist – Ventilator Support

The Respiratory Therapist Vent is a Field Clinician who delivers specialized respiratory care to ventilator dependent patients in home and alternate care settings. This role combines hands on patient care, education, and collaboration with physicians and care teams to support safe, coordinated, and high-quality outcomes outside the hospital.

Core responsibilities include maintaining and applying advanced knowledge of respiratory equipment, ventilators, HME products, and related payer and regulatory guidelines; performing clinical assessments and reassessments; participating in discharge planning; demonstrating and instructing patients, caregivers, and healthcare professionals on ventilator units, supplies, and proper equipment use; providing clinical follow up with physicians and referral sources regarding patient status and tolerance of therapy;

conducting clinical in services for hospital staff, referral sources, and other professionals on equipment and clinically related topics; adhering to all patient confidentiality, HIPAA, PPE, infection control, and hazardous materials handling requirements; accurately and timely documenting all patient care activities, assessments, procedures, communications, and outcomes in accordance with company standards; maintaining complete and up to date patient records, including prescriptions, plans of care, treatment plans, delivery tickets, and required checklists;

ensuring documentation supports quality tracking, data trending, reimbursement, authorizations (including ventilator referrals), and regulatory compliance; utilizing continuing education, in services, and professional inquiry to maintain and expand role related competencies; promoting Adapt Health through program development, operational support, educational coordination, and engagement with referral sources; acting as a clinical resource, collaborating proactively with peers and interdisciplinary teams to resolve issues and optimize patient outcomes;

ensuring accurate, clear, and timely verbal and written communication related to patient care and operational needs; participating in on call rotation during non-business hours in accordance with company policy; completing all required compliance training and adhering to Adapt Health's Compliance Program; and performing other related duties as assigned.

Why you're the best fit includes demonstrated experience providing respiratory care to ventilator patients, including ventilator management, airway clearance, and oxygen therapy; strong clinical assessment, decision making, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot equipment and adapt care as needed; excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with patients, caregivers, physicians, and interdisciplinary teams; ability to prioritize work, manage multiple responsibilities, and remain flexible in a fast paced, changing healthcare environment;

and technical aptitude with Microsoft Office and clinical systems, with the ability to quickly learn new technologies and understand regulatory requirements at the local, state, and federal levels.

Role requirements include an associates degree from an AMA-approved respiratory program; one (1) year of clinical experience as a Nurse with ventilator exposure, Healthcare Respiratory Therapist or HME Respiratory Therapist; valid and unrestricted Respiratory Therapist license in all states serviced by the branch; CPR certification; and valid and unrestricted driver's license.

Work environment is a field and in-office role that involves travel.

Compensation is based on experience, location and role level: $38-45 an hour.
