Job Description
Step into a rewarding contract position as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) or Occupational Therapist (OT) supporting students district-wide in a vibrant, collaborative school setting near Waterbury, CT. This full-time opportunity spans approximately 12 weeks, with the possibility of extension, providing vital OT services during an FMLA coverage.
Your expertise will empower students in Pre-K through 12th grade to reach their fullest potential, working alongside dedicated educational teams and under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist (for COTAs, as required).
Qualifications:
- Active Connecticut COTA or OT license/certification (CT DPH License and NBCOT Exam passed for COTAs)
- Preferred:
Previous experience in a school-based therapy role - Comfortable and reliable transportation to travel between district sites
- Willingness to commit fully to a temporary maternity leave assignment, understanding extension is possible but not guaranteed
Core Responsibilities:
- Implement and document individualized occupational therapy treatment plans for diverse student populations
- Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and families to support students' IEP and developmental goals
- Travel between schools as needed to provide services district-wide
- Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to interdisciplinary educational planning
- Ensure compliance with district, state, and federal guidelines for school-based OT services
