Our client is seeking an Acquisitions Librarian. Position Summary

The Acquisitions Librarian will join a collaborative, service-oriented team supporting a research-focused library environment. This role is responsible for managing the acquisition of data products and subscription-based research services that support advanced economic and financial analysis. The position serves as a key point of coordination between internal stakeholders and external vendors, ensuring that licensed resources meet organizational research needs and are procured, implemented, and maintained effectively.

Key Responsibilities Portfolio Management and Research Support
  • Support and manage a portfolio of data and subscription service contracts used by researchers and analysts.
  • Evaluate research requirements and connect stakeholders with appropriate licensed data and research tools.
  • Conduct consultations with end users to gather detailed specifications that inform acquisition decisions.
  • Perform market research to identify suitable vendors and data solutions aligned with user needs.
Acquisitions and Procurement Coordination
  • Coordinate acquisition activities throughout the full lifecycle, including vendor selection, business and legal negotiations, procurement processing, billing, and onboarding.
  • Ensure adherence to procurement policies and internal procedures.
Stakeholder Engagement and Vendor Liaison
  • Serve as a primary liaison between internal stakeholders and external vendors.
  • Respond to inquiries related to data subscriptions, contracts, and resource access.
  • Facilitate connections with vendor subject matter experts and technical support teams as needed.
Compliance, Licensing, and Advisory
  • Interpret license agreements and advise stakeholders on permitted usage, copyright considerations, and restrictions.
  • Provide guidance to ensure compliance with licensing terms and conditions.
Operational Support and Reporting
  • Deliver regular updates on budget utilization and resource usage metrics to leadership.
  • Collaborate with vendors and internal teams to resolve data access, content, and technical issues.
  • Participate in system-wide coordination efforts related to acquisitions and resource sharing.
Internal Collaboration and Strategic Initiatives
  • Contribute to internal initiatives related to data governance, information management, and emerging technologies.
  • Participate in projects aimed at improving library services, workflows, and outreach efforts.
Qualifications

Education and Experience
  • Master's degree in Library and Information Science from an accredited institution, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Minimum of 23 years of relevant experience in acquisitions, serials, electronic resources, or reference services within a library or information center setting.
Technical and Functional Knowledge
  • Demonstrated knowledge of acquiring and managing electronic resources, including data services, digital publications, and subscription-based platforms.
Skills and Competencies
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build relationships across diverse stakeholders.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to interpret and apply licensing agreements.
  • High attention to detail, particularly with respect to documenting processes and managing contracts.
