Why this role matters
Payroll data and reports are the single source of truth for payroll operations, HR, Finance, and auditors. * Design and maintain dashboards and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) that surface exceptions, trends, and compliance risks
* Act as the payroll data Subject Matter Expert (SME) and first escalation point for data, reporting, and metrics issues
* Define data requirements and validate outcomes for system changes, integrations, and payroll deploys
* Train payroll operations and partners to read, use, and trust payroll data and reports
Primary Responsibilities:
Data Strategy & Governance
* Define and maintain payroll data models, mappings, and lineage from source to GL
* Create and maintain data dictionaries, component code files, and change logs
Reporting & Analytics
* Build dashboards, KPIs, reconciliations, and variance analyses to monitor payroll accuracy and Service Level Agreements (SLAs)
* Produce recurring and ad-hoc reports for Payroll, HR, Finance, and Audit
Operational Support & Issue Resolution
* Troubleshoot data and reporting incidents, lead root-cause analysis (RCA), implement fixes, and prevent recurrence
* Own data/reporting-related incident lifecycle
Systems, Testing & Deployments
* Define data requirements for Project work requests (PWRs)/changes, author User Acceptance Testing (UAT) test plans and data scenarios, validate post-deploy data outcomes, and support stabilization
* Configure reporting layers and support integrations (transmit, feeds to GL, timekeeping interfaces)
Training & Knowledge Transfer
* Create training materials, run operational training sessions, and mentor payroll specialists to improve data literacy and self-service reporting
Continuous Improvement
* Identify automation opportunities, simplify processes, and standardize reporting to reduce manual work and errors
