Overview
Your outstanding customer service experience, computer skills, and attention to detail may meet the minimum qualification for a rewarding public service career with the Snohomish County District Court. This posting serves to fill one current vacancy at the Everett Division and creates a registry for up to 6 months to fill future vacancies. While the current vacancy is at the Everett Division, placement could be in any of our four locations:
Cascade Division (Arlington, WA), Evergreen Division (Monroe, WA), Everett Division (Everett, WA), or South Division (Lynnwood, WA).
Responsibilities
Assist the general public, defendants, attorneys, and law enforcement representatives in person or on the phone by answering questions and explaining court procedures; schedule trial and hearing dates; locate information from court records and provide it to the public as appropriate.Receive, record, and process payment of court fines, bail, penalty assessments, and fees; enter payments on a computer terminal, issue receipts, prepare time payment agreements, monitor payments, and take appropriate action on past due accounts.Receive, process, and issue legal documents such as subpoenas, warrants, summons, judgments, and dispositions; review items for accuracy, completeness, and signatures; forward documents to other agencies as necessary.Enter information on correct records on a computer terminal; make docket entries for pleas, dispositions, sentences, motions, and notices; update, retrieve, and process computer data.Review and prepare case files for court sessions; pull all related files; prepare and type documents as necessary.Schedule court hearings; prepare notices for litigants; prepare court calendars; record courtroom proceedings; maintain recording logs, mark exhibits, and process orders of the court; record documents filed in open court; provide required forms to defendants and other parties and secure necessary signatures.Process commitments, releases, and referrals; monitor cases for compliance with court orders; prepare files and refer defendants to agencies as directed by judge; enter compliance reports and other documents into files and records; contact other agencies as required; refer cases of noncompliance to judge and prepare summons and warrants as required; verify completion of judge's orders and close files.Assist in scheduling and coordination of jury trials; prepare and/or mail out juror information, cost bills, sign‑in sheets, information sheets, and selection cards; sign in jurors; contact jurors who do not respond; prepare jury‑related statistics.May perform all duties of subordinate level employees.Relieve in all areas of the district court as assigned.Qualifications
- One (1) year of court legal processing experience in a District Court, Juvenile Court, or Superior Court; or equivalent combination of training and/or experience; or successful completion of the training period for the Legal Process Assistant I.
- Ability to type 35 words per minute.
- Excellent customer service skills and a passion for public service.
- The ability to work independently at a high‑performance rate while being flexible and dedicated to the team.

- Knowledge of standard office practices, procedures, and machines; basic arithmetic.
- Ability to enter information into a computer system; assist the public in determining their needs; communicate effectively with people regardless of age, sex, or background; obtain information from defendants in the face of hostility; maintain records and prepare related forms, documents, statements, and reports; work with minimum supervision; follow oral and written instructions; operate standard office equipment and software; meet deadlines and cope with interruptions.
