This individual will be part of a corporate Global Trade Legal & Compliance team in the Global Operations and Supply Chain Legal Department composed of lawyers and compliance professionals that combine deep substantive expertise in global trade areas core to Medtronic’s business with in‑house understanding of Medtronic’s businesses. Team members work across business units and geographies to advise on complex trade legal and regulatory issues.

The Sr. Compliance Manager, Global Trade Legal & Compliance will lead the development, execution, and continuous improvement of Medtronic’s global trade compliance program across businesses and geographies. The role will oversee enterprise policies, procedures, training, and controls governing import compliance, export controls, and sanctions, while advising senior business and functional leaders on material trade risks and effective mitigation strategies.

This position could reside in either Minneapolis, MN;
Washington, D.C.; or near a Medtronic site in the U.S. This position reports to the Director of Global Trade Legal & Compliance.

Responsibilities include the following and other duties may be assigned:

• Lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of the enterprise global trade compliance program, driving accountability for import, export control, and sanctions compliance.
• Maintain global trade compliance policies, procedures, standards, training, and governance mechanisms to reflect current legal requirements and business risks.
• Direct cross‑functional identification, assessment, and mitigation of material trade compliance risks in partnership with Global Trade Operations, Supply Chain, the Office of Ethics & Compliance, regional experts, and business leaders.
• Establish and monitor controls, remediation plans, and program metrics that strengthen program effectiveness, audit readiness, and sustained compliance.
• Lead or coordinate the compliance response to significant investigations, litigation, potential violations, voluntary disclosures, and corrective actions in alignment with legal counsel and relevant stakeholders.
• Provide strategic trade compliance advice for business development activities, including risk‑based due diligence, escalation of material findings, and integration planning.
• Deliver concise, decision‑ready guidance to senior leaders and facilitate consistent execution and information sharing across businesses and regions.

Must Have:
Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree with 7+ years of global trade compliance experience in a large, complex corporate environment, or an advanced degree with 5+ years of experience, including substantive responsibility for import compliance, export controls, sanctions, investigations or disclosures, and compliance program governance.

Nice to Have

• Experience in the healthcare, medical device, or life sciences industry and a strong understanding of the associated legal, regulatory, and business risk environment.
• Demonstrated success leading complex, cross‑functional compliance initiatives and influencing senior internal and external stakeholders in a global, matrixed organization.
