About the JobThe Maintenance Technician performs a wide variety of tasks related to the maintenance of City of Everett grounds, facilities, and equipment. Duties include manual labor tasks such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and logistical maintenance. Responsibilities involve using standard hand and power tools, towing trailers and tractors, operating non‑CDL vehicles, and performing custodial work. The role requires observation, recording, and repair of damage to City assets, adherence to policies, and possible weekend, evening, or holiday work.
Minimum Education And Experience Requirements- Minimum of one (1) year of experience in parks, facilities, grounds maintenance, or construction work (or equivalent training).
- Valid driver license at hire and ability to obtain a valid, unrestricted Washington State Driver License within 30 days of hire.
- Valid CPR, AED, and basic first aid certification within 6 months of hire (or ability to obtain) and maintenance of these certifications during employment.
- Work outdoors for prolonged periods under uncomfortable conditions in all weather.
- Access and work at variable sites.
- Perform physical labor, work independently, adapt to changes.
- Lift, carry 50 pounds; occasionally move heavier objects.
- Willing to work varying shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays; respond to off‑hour call outs.

- Submit through City’s online application system by 5:00 p.m. on January 12 2025.
- LATE, INCOMPLETE, FAXED, OR EMAILED APPLICATIONS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.
- Supplemental Questionnaire is part of the application (30%). Answers must be detailed and blind rated.
- Highest passing grades invited to a practical evaluation (70%) tentatively scheduled for the week of January 26 2025.
- Vacancies filled from ranked Civil Service register for 12 months.
- A passing grade of 70.00 or higher on all parts of the screening process is required for placement on the ranked Civil Service eligible register.
- Process measures knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- Veterans’ preference claims require DD214 or equivalent to characterize qualifying discharge under RCW 73.04.005.
- Extensive background checks conducted.
- Hiring offers contingent on successful completion of city‑paid pre‑employment physical.
