Job Summary

Leads and coordinates logistics activities, expediting flow of material, parts and assemblies within or between departments. Partners with Logistics team, ensuring compliance with company policies and product specifications. Assesses knowledge and abilities of team, performing or coordinating training activities to ensure continuous improvement of products, processes and people.

Lead Pay premium- $2 per hour

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Leads assigned production work center, preparing work schedules, expediting workflow and collaborating with other Operations Leads, their direct Manager to anticipate and resolve any problems related to safety, efficiency or quality.
  • Ensures that all reporting Logistics Clerks starts their shift on time.
  • Manage staff’s attendance and job assignments.
  • Escalate attendance and job-related issues to their direct Manager for resolution.
  • Examines logistics processes and procedures for efficiency and accuracy, making recommendations for improvement.
  • Implements training as required to ensure compliance with customer requirements and the Quality Management System.
  • Oversees logistics activities, ensuring adherence to policy and procedure.
  • Mentors and develops the logistics organizations, providing constructive feedback, sharing technical knowledge, and inspiring the growth of logistics teammates.
  • Collects and synthesizes information related to logistics activities, preparing reports for the Supply Chain organization.
  • Computes amount of stock and supplies required for operations, based on production schedules, and requisitions materials from storage area.
  • Interfaces with others in the organization to ensure customer deadlines are met.
  • Works in all areas of Logistics team, providing support for key areas including Shipping, Receiving and Inventory.
  • Prepares incoming and outgoing parts and products.
  • Maintain regular inventory audits and inventory accuracy using cycle counts per part.
  • Coordinate shop floor logistics by reviewing and taking actions on component availability issues between Purchasing, Receiving, Receiving Inspection, and Production to maximize customer service.
  • Participate in 5s’, lean manufacturing and cost reduction activities.
  • Responsible for maintaining a clean and safe work environment.

Education/Experience
  • Associate degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school, or 3 to 5 years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Preferred:
    Experience as a team lead, shift supervisor, mentor or coach.
Computer Skills
  • Ability to use data-collection hardware and software and translate collected data into meaningful results.
  • Must also have proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet and email software.
Certificates and Licenses
  • Forklift certification.
