The Plumbing Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and supervising all plumbing operations and projects within the organization. This role oversees a team of plumbers and apprentices while ensuring all work is completed efficiently, safely, on budget, and in full compliance with applicable plumbing codes and regulations. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with strong technical knowledge, people management skills, and a focus on quality, safety, and operational excellence.
Operations& Project Management
- Plan, schedule, and oversee all plumbing installations, repairs, and maintenance projects
- Allocate manpower, tools, equipment, and materials to meet project timelines and service demands
- Monitor job progress, quality standards, and budget adherence
- Manage department performance to improve work quality, increase revenue, and reduce callbacks and warranty work
- Recruit, train, supervise, and mentor plumbers and apprentices
- Provide coaching, guidance, and performance feedback to team members
- Foster a positive, safety-focused, and collaborative work environment
- Conduct regular department meetings to set expectations, resolve challenges, and motivate staff
- Create and maintain on-call and dispatch schedules
- Communicate with clients to understand project needs and expectations when required
- Prepare and present plumbing project estimates and proposals
- Address client questions, concerns, and issues in a timely and professional manner
- Ensure all plumbing work complies with local, state, and federal plumbing codes
- Verify permits are obtained and inspections are completed as required
- Promote and enforce safety policies and best practices
- Perform regular quality inspections to maintain high workmanship standards
- Prepare and manage departmental and project budgets
- Track costs and expenditures to ensure profitability
- Manage plumbing inventory, tools, and materials
- Optimize resource usage to minimize waste and maximize efficiency
- Maintain accurate records of jobs, permits, plans, invoices, and inspections
- Generate reports on project status, budget performance, and team productivity
- Perform other related duties as assigned
- High school diploma or equivalent required (Bachelor’s degree preferred)
- Valid plumbing certification or license
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a related plumbing leadership or supervisory role
- Strong knowledge of plumbing systems, codes, and regulations
- Budgeting and financial management experience
- Proficient in MS Office and basic computer systems
- Excellent communication, analytical, organizational, and time-management skills
- Proven ability to lead teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously
