As Life Transformational Manager, you foster a safe, dignifying, Christ-forward environment where guests, staff, volunteers, and partners can experience mutual transformation. You lead people and daily operations to deliver reliable, high-barrier shelter and low-barrier shelter and a consistent continuum toward stability and housing, integrating trauma-informed, recovery-aware, and de-escalation practices. You model calm, policy-true decision-making, coach staff to excellence, and steward resources with care.

You actively build partnerships (internal & external) to increase safety, access, and outcomes.

In addition to managing a team, you will also engage with clients as a Life Transformation Coach to backfill for staff or as assigned based on the needs of the client population.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities People Management / Staff Engagement
  • Safety (People-Forward):
    Establish predictable, calm routines; ensure incident reporting is timely and complete; lead after-action reviews that are learning-oriented. Ensure compliance with EGM policies and local/state health & safety requirements; partner with Facilities on preventive maintenance and hazard mitigation. Maintain balanced staffing plans, coverage, and skill mix for de-escalation and trauma-informed care; verify certifications/training currency.
  • Mutuality (Team & Guest Culture):
    Lead regular 1:1s / stand-ups / debriefs; engagement conversations that promote coaching, feedback, and professional growth. Train staff in conflict resolution, de-escalation, and trauma-informed care. Promote guest participation in community norms and responsibilities that build dignity and agency (e.g., shared chores, community room norms). Facilitate a feedback loop between senior leadership and shelter staff by participating in EGM’s internal communication cascade practice.
  • Collaboration with Other Departments:
    Partner with the Volunteer Coordinator to welcome, train, and support volunteers, ensuring their service reflects EGM’s culture of compassion. Work with Facilities staff to maintain a safe, clean, and functional property. Coordinate with Kitchen staff to ensure meals and pantry services meet guest needs.
  • Life Transformation Program Quality & Outcomes:
    Engage with Program staff in the implementation of routines that support stability and housing progress (e.g., service navigation, coordinated entry referrals, follow-ups). Track and report core outcomes; use data for improvement cycles; elevate barriers and resource needs promptly. Lead or participate in program meetings to translate field insights into practice improvements.
  • Operations & Stewardship:
    Own the schedule, timecards, and basic HR workflows in partnership with HR; support hiring and onboarding. Ensure seamless coordination with Kitchen and Facilities; align practice with food service and property care standards. Represent EGM with city partners, agencies, donors; host tours that communicate EGM’s mission and values.
Life Transformation Coach / Client Engagement
  • Individual Coaching:
    Provide one-on-one coaching sessions to guests, focusing on personal development, goal setting, and overcoming barriers.
  • Spiritual Guidance:
    Offer spiritual support and guidance in helping guests strengthen their faith and purpose.
