Key Responsibilities
- Overall management responsibility for operation of retail grocery store, including store performance, control of cash, inventory, security, customer services, and management of staff.
- Track, analyze, and take action to improve store performance by forecasting, setting weekly/daily sales goals, and meeting or exceeding established goals; communicate goals and opportunities with staff.
- Forecast, schedule, and monitor labor to align with store sales and productivity guidelines and wage budgets; create action plans to address cost‑control issues.
- Develop and direct execution of strategies to improve product placement and appearance.
- Monitor display accuracy and appearance to implement promotions; ensure products are properly displayed and maintained in-stock.
- Manage store maintenance, cleanliness, safety, and sanitation.
- Oversee and monitor cash handling and accounting; ensure store security.
- Prioritize, plan, coordinate work activities, and manage time and resources to meet objectives.
- Ensure compliance with legal requirements and company policies and procedures, including check cashing, security, safety, sanitation, wage and hour regulations, etc.
- Focus on customer satisfaction and needs; ensure employees provide superior customer service through best practices and effective communication.
- Select, train, develop, and manage job performance of store employees, with assistance from other managerial personnel.
- Provide constructive suggestions, encouragement, set performance expectations, give honest feedback, and identify assignments to provide developmental opportunities.
- Maintain appropriate professional relationships with union officials and ensure compliance with collective bargaining agreement provisions, if applicable.
- Maintain positive working relationships with direct reports, peers, supervisors, suppliers, and customers while effectively handling complex or difficult situations.
- Motivate others to perform the job and work toward common objectives; serve as a role model and instill a positive attitude in employees.
- 3 years’ management experience, responsible for managing a department/team within a multi‑department operation within the retail industry.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required;
College degree preferred. - Strong customer service and supervisory skills.
- Strong understanding of overall store operations.
- Strong leadership skills.
- Most work performed in a temperature‑controlled environment.
- Incumbent may sit for long periods at a desk or computer terminal.
- Incumbent may use calculators, keyboards, telephone, and other office equipment during the normal workday.
- Work may involve regular standing, walking, climbing stairs, and movement in and around machinery and hazardous equipment, including receiving and production areas.
- Stooping, bending, twisting, and reaching may be required.
- Position may require some travel, including occasional weekend travel.
- Workday is fast‑paced and stressful.
Salary range is $100,000 to $129,800 annually. Starting salary will vary based on location, experience, and qualifications. There may be flexibility for exceptional candidates.
