Position Purpose
Perform CMM programming and inspection of product for Receiving, In-process and Final Inspection.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Maintain and improve current CMM programs on legacy product
- Performs First Article and In-Process Inspections
- Populate and maintain Inspection records and First Article Inspections as required by work instructions or aerospace standards
- Inspect parts using handheld M&TE and visual techniques
- Proficient in the use of optical comparator, surface plates, height gages, drop gages, micrometer, and other precision equipment
- Accept / Reject parts based on engineering requirements
- Process parts physically and electronically using Vaupell software – Generate NCRs for discrepant parts
- Work with supervisors / leads on corrective and preventative actions, as well as root cause analysis of issues with parts
- Provide material testing support as required
- Key liaison between Engineering, Quality Engineering and Manufacturing on quality problems and requirements resulting from First Article and In-Process Inspections
- Responsible for following all established Vaupell policies, standard operating procedures and safety practices
- Other duties as assigned
- High school education/GED
- 2 years relevant experience minimum
- Demonstrated background and use of DCC CMM Mandatory
- PCDMIS CAD Software background highly desirable
- Strong working background in performance of mechanical inspection and use of all inspection equipment. Hand layout setup capability required
- Advanced understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
- Willingness to train other inspectors
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Outstanding organizational abilities
- Candidates must be a “US Person” (i.e.US Citizen or Permanent Resident) to ensure Vaupell's compliance with ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations) and EAR (Export Administration Regulations)
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes, airborne particles, and vibrations.
