Shift: Monday through Friday 6am to 3:30pm

Position Purpose

Responsible for design, programming, optimization, set‑ups, maintenance, and operation of CNC machining processes to produce high‑quality components with precision and efficiency. This role supports manufacturing from project inception through validation of current and new machined projects. Apply Lean principles to reduce waste and improve productivity through CAD/CAM programming, standardized set‑ups (SMED), automation, and continuous improvement (Kaizen).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Set‑up and operate CNC Lathes and Machining Centers (3‑ and 5‑axis) to fabricate parts according to specifications.
  • Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics to determine machining operations.
  • Program the CNC machine, inputting design specifications and ensuring correct machine performance.
  • Design and build CNC fixtures, tool holders, CMM fixtures, set tools, and edit programs.
  • Develop and optimize CNC programs with SMED, standardization, process mapping, and waste elimination.
  • Perform first‑piece inspection and intermediate inspections to verify compliance with specifications and tolerances.
  • Maintain accurate quality records and documentation in accordance with regulatory and internal requirements.
  • Collaborate with Engineers, Tooling, and other departments to ensure efficient production.
  • Create or review setup sheets and specifications to determine optimal setup procedures, machining sequences, and quality requirements.
  • Follow all established Vaupell policies, SOPs, and safety practices.
  • Utilize Lean tools such as 6S, Fishbone Diagram, A3 Analysis, 5 Whys, and FMEA.
Job Qualifications/Requirements
  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Completion of vocational or technical trade schooling desirable.
  • Minimum five years of experience as a CNC Operator.
  • Three years of experience adjusting CNC programs.
  • Proficiency in CAD/CAM software such as Mastercam, Hyper Mill, and FANUC G‑Code based CNC systems.
  • Knowledge of machine controls, program codes, fixtures, tool offsets, and CNC systems.
  • Experience setting up and operating CNC Lathes and Machining Centers.
  • Knowledge of measuring and inspection equipment.
  • Basic math aptitude, ability to perform calculations in various units of measure.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret blueprints, solid models, and written instructions.
  • Ability to read, speak, understand, and follow instructions in English.
  • Must be able to wear, and properly use required personal protective equipment.

Candidates must be a “US Person” (U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident) to ensure compliance with ITAR and EAR.
