About the Position
Job Title: Production Supervisor
Department: Production
Classification: Salary, exempt
Reports to: Production Manager/Plant Manager
Shift Responsibilities: All shifts (Day shift training, night shift operation and PTO coverage)
OVERVIEW: As the Production Supervisor at our company, you will be responsible for managing your team of hourly employees, overseeing day‑to‑day operations, and ensuring that process standards are met to produce consistent, safe, high‑quality ESL and UHT beverages. You will maintain the product’s food safety, quality, and legality programs under BRC/GFSI/PCQI guidelines and support the plant through start‑up and full production.
ResponsibilitiesDuties & Responsibilities
- Uphold high safety standards and immediately report deviations from food safety and quality programs.
- Coordinate training of operations personnel for equipment, materials, and plant standards.
- Develop annual growth strategy and roadmaps for your shift to build competent operators.
- Maintain an action tracker and enforce accountability for continuous improvement.
- Report leading downtime issues and collaborate with support departments to address causal factors.
- Keep accurate material and shift records to ensure efficient plant operation.
- Maintain audit‑ready status and troubleshoot problems on the floor.
- Assist in learning to read and interpret equipment drawings and P&IDs.
- Support vendors and technicians on commissioning, training, PMs, and routine/non‑routine work.
- Participate in cross‑functional teams to reduce downtime and improve performance.
- Report maintenance, instrument, equipment replacement, or PLC changes per change‑management protocols.
- Involve in daily operations and provide teachable moments to develop personnel.
- Interview, select, onboard, and develop new and existing team members.
- Manage time and attendance of employees on your shift.
- Monitor and manage team production, safety, and quality goals.
- Operate systems from raw milk intake through blending and UHT operations.
- Operate aseptic storage tanks and filling/packaging lines.
- Enforce company policy and procedures.
- Communicate effectively so employees understand their job responsibilities, priorities, and expectations.
- Continuously train to foster engagement in safety, food safety, and quality.
- Provide tools and support to ensure employee success.
- Coach and inspire team members to realize optimal performance.
- BS/BA in manufacturing or related field, and/or 5+ years of supervisory experience in food/beverage processing.
- Experience in dairy plant operations, control systems, pumps, mix‑proof valves, and milk processing equipment.
- Knowledge of aseptic (UHT) or extended shelf‑life products and associated fillers.
- Proficiency in planning production, cleaning routines, preventive maintenance, and compiling weekly performance reports.
- Proven track record of developing and empowering employees.
- Leadership experience in a food, beverage, or manufacturing environment.
- Strong analytical, prioritization, and problem‑solving skills.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements for dairy and aseptic products.
- Experience in manufacturing or a similar role, including people management.
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
- Leadership in safety‑minded teams.
- Experience leading technical teams.
