Textile Operator I – Entry Level
Collins Aerospace Carbon Operations in Spokane, WA is hiring a motivated Textile Operator I. In this role you will learn and operate large‑scale CNC textile loom equipment used to produce carbon‑carbon composite brake preforms. On‑the‑job training will guide you through a well‑defined progression roadmap.
Job OverviewThe Textile department converts carbon fiber strands into layered boards and cuts brake preform parts from these boards. Machines are largely automated, but personnel must load and unload machines, conduct inspections, and manage material weighing and stacking. The work area is temperature and humidity‑controlled.
Rotating Shift Structure- 4‑on/4‑off rotation equates to 6‑months off every year!
- Rotating day/night shift every 6 weeks
- 12‑hour shifts: 6:00 AM – 6:00 PM / 6:00 PM – 6:00 AM
- Built‑in, guaranteed overtime

- Total annual compensation starting at $50,000 per year
- $19/hour starting pay
- $2.25 shift differential
- 208 hours of built‑in overtime per year

- Participate in a team‑oriented environment and collaborate with functional groups (e.g., engineering) on technical matters.
- Assist with the operation of equipment used for product processing.
- Perform equipment preventative maintenance.
- Assist with data entry and process documentation.
- Adhere to all engineering instructions, standard operating procedures, and departmental procedures.
- Meet the target productivity levels established for the department.
- Complete tasks assigned by management.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Lift up to 25 lbs. (excess weight requires lift assistance).
- Follow all environmental, health and safety procedures.
- Comply with all other company policies and procedures.
- Meet shaving requirements to ensure proper respirator fit where required.
- May be exposed to heights, fumes, confined spaces, airborne particles, noise, high/low temperatures, and/or moving equipment (PPE provided).
- Work 4 days on/4 days off—12‑hour shifts, rotating days to nights every 6 weeks.
- Knowledge of customer and company specifications, including international standards for carbon‑carbon brake components.
- Operation of support equipment such as forklifts, scissor lifts, and power tools.
- Completion of a departmental training program within the allotted time.
- Use of textile machines and equipment for this area.
- Fall protection system usage with a robust training program.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Manufacturing or similar industry‑related experience.
- Experience operating forklift.
- Experience operating power tools.
