Overview
The Estimator/Planner supports manufacturing operations by creating job estimates, planning workflows, and scheduling production activities. This role gathers technical data, reviews customer requirements, and coordinates with suppliers to ensure materials and outside processing are available on time.
This role requires strong knowledge of metal forming, metal finishing, and heat‑treat specifications, along with the ability to manage schedules and communicate with suppliers and customers.

Responsibilities- Calculate labor, material, tooling, and outside‑processing costs to develop accurate job estimates.
- Prepare detailed cost estimates, including labor hours, machine time, materials, and special processing.
- Develop process steps and create work instructions, including routing, job travelers, and required inspection points.
- Gather and review all technical data, including drawings, specifications, tolerances, and industry standards.
- Plan and schedule jobs to maintain efficient production flow and meet customer delivery dates.
- Source materials and outside services, request quotes, and track supplier lead times.
- Coordinate workflow through the shop, ensuring capacity, materials, and processing are aligned with schedule requirements.
- Review customer drawings and specifications to ensure all requirements are understood and incorporated into planning.
- Collaborate with production, engineering, quality, suppliers, and customers to support job execution and resolve issues.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred (engineering, manufacturing, or related field).
- Understanding of metal forming, machining, metal finishing, and heat‑treat processes.
- Ability to manage multiple jobs, shifting priorities, and tight deadlines.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and leadership skills.
