Position Summary
Operates computer numerical controlled (CNC) router machines for the construction of aircraft interior structural and non‑structural parts such as floor panels, aluminum parts, phenolic panels and other materials using engineering drawings, company and customer specifications.
Key Duties and Responsibilities- Adheres to company and customer specifications, work instructions, engineering prints and work orders.
- Issues materials within the ERP system to maintain traceability of the product.
- Handles raw material and manufactured parts carefully to ensure integrity and quality.
- Operates and monitors CNC router machines, ensuring proper program and machine performance.
- Creates programs and assigns toolpaths in Mastercam 2019 for parts with complex surfaces and multiple operations for 3‑axis routers.
- Reviews 3D drawings for accuracy using Autodesk.
- Builds parts to proper build schedule with aid from Production Control/lead/supervisor.
- Operates tools such as drills, drill press, deburr equipment.
- Verifies accuracy of parts using calipers, scales and other metrology equipment and reports suspect parts immediately to the lead.
- Participates in improving lean product flow and product design using Mastercam.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- High School Education or GED, required.
- Minimum 3‑5 years of CNC router experience preferred.
- Proficient communication skills in English, both written and oral.
- Strong troubleshooting/problem‑solving abilities.
- Detail oriented.
- Ability to prioritize, multi‑task effectively, and work under pressure.
- Basic mathematical calculation skills.
- Ability to read and understand drawings.
- Familiarity with basic operation of CNC router machine, Mastercam and AutoCAD software.
- Understanding of quality objectives and customer expectations.
Standard machine shop environment.
Physical RequirementsOccasional lifting of up to 50 pounds. Hearing and vision within normal ranges are essential for safe conduct on the manufacturing floor. Pre‑employment hearing test may be required.
