Engineering Technician (Electrical) with Security Clearance

Position: ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN (ELECTRICAL) with Security Clearance
Duties
* You will provide technical assistance on urgent mission-degrading CASREPs or similar problems affecting major systems.
* You will diagnose and correct technical problems beyond the capability of forces afloat, IMA's or repair activities.
* You will inspect and perform the functional checkout/demonstration of major systems on new construction ships or major conversions.
* You will lead organized teams of technical experts and maintenance personnel in the functional testing and inspection of major shipboard systems.
* You will provide technical support to Naval organizations during repair and test/grooming functions to supplement shipyard/SUPSHIPS staffing.
* You will analyze and study specific major deficiencies in operations, maintenance or logistics support of of assigned systems to develop or evaluate improvements in design, maintenance procedures, material, etc. Requirements Conditions of employment

* This is a bargaining unit position.
* You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
* You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
* You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
* This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
* This position requires considerable walking, climbing and crawling in and around the systems/equipment with marginal accessibility being a frequent problem.
* Standing for several hours at a time on hard steel decks also occurs regularly during ship visits.
* The position has been identified as one in which shift hours may be changed without three days advance notice and for periods of less than three weeks. Qualifications FOR THE GS-12:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: providing advanced technical assistance and troubleshooting on urgent mission-degrading complex, atypical, or mission-degrading equipment causalities (CASREPs) or similar problems affecting major systems to resolve electrical, electronic, and mechanical shipboard problems beyond the capability of organizational maintenance levels.
