Summary

The ACL Dementia Program is a new Homage program designed to improve health outcomes of adults with or showing symptoms of Alzheimer’s disease or other related dementias and strengthen the dementia-capable home and community-based supports to effectively coordinate care and improve the quality of life of adults living with Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Dementias (ADRD).

The Volunteer and Community Engagement Coordinator supports the growth and sustainability of Homage's Dementia-Friendly Community Initiative and Memory Café programs throughout Snohomish County and neighboring communities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Community Engagement, Marketing, and Communications: develop, create, and distribute marketing and communications materials promoting Dementia Friends initiatives, volunteer opportunities, Memory Cafés, support groups, trainings, and community education programs; create content for newsletters, social media, flyers, presentations, websites, volunteer recruitment campaigns, and other outreach materials; coordinate volunteer recruitment marketing efforts; present Dementia Friends information sessions and educational presentations; build and maintain relationships with local businesses, agencies, churches, and community organizations;

    schedule and coordinate Dementia Program educational sessions.
  • Volunteer Recruitment, Training, and Program Support: recruit, engage, and support volunteers; assist with Champion training for new Dementia Friends volunteers; coordinate orientation and training for Memory Café volunteers; maintain volunteer communication, provide ongoing support, resources, and recognition; manage Dementia-Friendly training kits and educational materials; assist with volunteer tracking and reporting.
  • Memory Café Coordination: assist with scheduling and coordinating Memory Café programs; coordinate volunteer staffing; provide direct staff support for Memory Cafés; collaborate with staff, volunteers, and community partners; assist with program evaluation, participation tracking, and reporting; perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, social services, public health, nonprofit management, or related field.
  • 2 years’ experience in community outreach, volunteer coordination, communications, event planning, program coordination, or related work.
  • Experience presenting information to groups and building relationships with community partners.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Teams, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint), social media platforms, and virtual meeting tools.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, schedules, and priorities.
  • Valid Washington State Driver’s License and ability to travel in the community.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Experience working with older adults, individuals living with dementia, caregivers, or community-based aging services programs.
