26-27 Nooksack Salmon Enhancement Community Program Associate
This is an Ameri Corps/Washington Service Corps national service position. It is contingent on funding and open until filled. Nooksack Salmon Enhancement Association (NSEA) is a community-based non‑profit. We focus on reversing the trend of declining salmon runs in Whatcom County. We enhance river, creek, and riparian habitat while educating people of all ages to provide Pacific salmon and Steelhead the best chance A’s work is strategic, targeting community involvement through outreach, education, and stewardship.
To accomplish this, we build a community of informed citizens who prioritize ensuring a healthy watershed for people, fish, and other wildlife. Engaging our community and providing meaningful volunteer opportunities is central to our mission.
The Community Program Associate will support NSEA's mission and play a key role in the organization. The primary focus will be educating elementary youth about salmon and watersheds while supporting the expansion of education programming to reach a new audience for NSEA—middle and high school youth. This will help NSEA have multiple opportunities to connect with youth, leading to a more informed future generation of decision‑makers.
This position will also support NSEA's stewardship efforts, serving at habitat restoration events where volunteers are equipped with tools and expertise to make a difference in their community and to help salmon through these events. We expect to begin rolling review of applications and interviews in late July. Monthly stipend amount: $3,157.
