The Registered Nurse is responsible for providing skilled nursing care, case management, and treatment planning to patients requiring surgical intervention within a Level II Trauma Center. Daily tasks include patient assessments, medication administration, and collaborating with the interdisciplinary team. Critical to this role is strong communication and collaboration with patients, providers, and other team members to support a variety of general, cardiovascular, and thoracic surgical procedures.

Responsibilities:
- Provide skilled nursing care, case management, and comprehensive patient assessments.
- Administer medications and develop effective treatment plans.
- Collaborate strongly with patients, providers, and the interdisciplinary team.
- Support and assist with surgical procedures including CABG, AVR, AAA, MVR, VATS, RATS, Mediastinoscopy, Pericardial Windows, Tamponade, and minimally invasive cardiac procedures.
- Provide CVL support with carotid cutdowns and laser lead standby.
- Float to the Main Operating Room as required to meet facility needs.
- Document patient care accurately using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems.
Required Skills &
Certifications:
- Active Registered Nurse license in the state of working (pending licenses accepted).
- Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience (first-time travelers accepted).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Clinical assessment, medication administration, and treatment planning skills.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and interdisciplinary team collaboration skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with General, Cardiovascular/Thoracic, and Laparoscopic procedures.
- Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system experience.
Preferred Skills &
Certifications:
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Certified Perioperative Nurse (CNOR) credential.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification.
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing or related field.
Special Considerations:
- On-call expectations include at least 1 weekend per month and 5 weekday evenings per month.
- Floating to the Main OR is required.
- Local candidates are not accepted.
- All Requested Time Off (RTO) must be included at the time of submittal.
- Work environment is a Level II Trauma Center with 571 total staffed beds.
- Scrub color policy allows any color except reddish-orange.
- Facility-paid parking is provided.
- Scrub experience is not required for this role.
Scheduling:
- Schedule consists of 4x10 Day shifts.
- Guaranteed 70 hours per 2-week period.
- Weekends are not required for standard shifts, only for on-call requirements.
- Start date is ASAP.,
