The Infection Preventionist -- LPN is responsible for the nursing center's Infection Prevention and Control Program (IPCP) and functions as a practitioner, resource, consultant, educator and facilitator for staff in multiple nursing centers focusing on Infection Prevention
- Control Activities, Employee Health, Outbreak Management and Outcome
- Process Surveillance, to include identifying, investigating, analyzing, controlling and reporting infections.
* Ensure the quality of patient care as it relates to the investigation, control and prevention of infections and communicable diseases.
* Integrate the Infection Control and Prevention program with the nursing centers' QAPI processes, is a member of the Center's QAPI committee, and regularly reports on the status on the IPCP.
* Develop, implement and teach education programs in response to identified infection control needs identified through QAPI, rounding, center quality measures, or other means.
* Support new hire orientation by providing infection prevention and control training for newly hired employees.
* Review the immunization documentation for new hires to ensure regulatory compliance.
* Oversee implementation and quality of the patient/resident influenza and pneumococcal vaccine.
* Maintain infection prevention and control records per policy and regulatory requirements.
* Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing with current practical or vocational nurse licensure by the State Board of Nursing is required.
* Must complete specialized training in infection prevention and control within 90 days of hire.
* A minimum of three years full-time or equivalent nursing experience is required and a minimum of two years of nursing experience in long-term care nursing with one year in a management/administrative or supervisory capacity is preferred.
* Previous experience in infection prevention and control is preferred.
* Ability to work flexible hours in order to meet with employees working evening and night shifts is required.
* Must work at least part-time.
