Veterinarian – Avian Medicine (Full-Time) Night Owl Bird Hospital | Canada’s Avian-Exclusive Veterinary Hospital
If your heart soars for feathered friends, you’re in the right place. Night Owl Bird Hospital is seeking a full-time Veterinarian who shares our passion for birds and is eager to make a meaningful difference in the lives of companion birds and the people who love them.
Night Owl Bird Hospital is the only solely avian-focused veterinary clinic in Canada. Our hospital operates 24 hours a day and is supported by a skilled, efficient team of technicians and assistants. As an emergency-capable hospital, no two days are the same—each shift brings new challenges, learning opportunities, and rewards.
Our team is led by Dr. Anne McDonald, who has over 40 years of experience in avian medicine. Dr. McDonald was awarded the CVMA Humane Award in 2017 in recognition of her lifelong dedication to patient welfare. She is widely respected within the veterinary community and is a generous mentor to both staff and colleagues.
About the RoleWe are looking for a veterinarian with a genuine passion for patient care and a strong interest in avian medicine. Prior experience with birds is preferred, but enthusiasm, curiosity, and a commitment to learning are equally valued.

Qualifications- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM or equivalent) from an accredited veterinary school
- Eligibility for licensure with the appropriate provincial veterinary regulatory body in Canada
- Strong interest in avian medicine; prior experience with avian patients preferred
- Willingness to work in a 24-hour hospital environment, including emergency and urgent care cases
- Ability to remain calm, organized, and effective in a fast-paced, high-acuity setting
- Excellent communication skills with both clients and team members
- Commitment to providing high-quality, compassionate patient care
- Strong teamwork skills and a collaborative, respectful approach to practice
- Reliability, professionalism, and a strong work ethic
