Position: Park Aide (Tahoma Gateway Area) Multiple Parks

Description

Considerations:

  • Weekend and evening shifts expected.
  • Busy during spring and summer holidays; time off near holidays not guaranteed.

  • Work is moderately physical; candidates with physical limitations should review details for less physical roles.

Locations:
Dash Point, Flaming Geyser, Kanaskat‑Palmer, Nolte, and Saltwater State Parks. Positions are 3‑5 months, starting April, May, or June.

Duties

Under the supervision of a Park Ranger, Park Aides perform a variety of tasks, such as registering campers, collecting fees, cleaning facilities, mowing lawns, providing visitor information, and more. Primary duties include:

  • Maintain park facilities through routine maintenance and janitorial services.
  • Perform grounds maintenance: cut grass, weed, prune, rake leaves, collect litter.
  • Maintain lawns using mower, weed eater, trimmer, and tools.
  • Provide park information and answer phones.
  • Register campers, collect and sort revenue.
  • Perform daily garbage collection and litter control.
  • Clean restrooms and stock supplies.
  • Housekeeping duties for rental properties: wash windows, scrub floors, mop, sweep.
  • Drive light trucks or state vehicles to transport supplies and haul garbage.
Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum age 17.
  • Valid unrestricted driver’s license. Out‑of‑state licenses must be presented at interview.

DESIRED

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bilingual skills (Spanish preferred).

JOB SPECIFIC

COMPETENCIES:

  • Ability to learn and grow; meet needs of others; operate hand and power tools; perform general maintenance; use chemicals; work in all weather; work Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays.

Uniform:
All non‑permanent Aides wear a uniform; receive 2 shirts, 1 baseball cap, and a clothing stipend of $75.00 per year (possible $150 for longer positions).
