Position: Ability One Grounds Person NGA FT
Overview
Position provides outdoor grounds cleaning services for the National Gallery of Art during the regular work week and after nighttime concerts. This position is responsible and will be held accountable for behaving in accordance with divisional and organizational RISE values and expectation
Schedule is: 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM Workdays:
Wednesday – Sunday(Please note that schedules are subject to change with the needs of the business)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible for removing all trash from outside of buildings and in park area and ensuring grounds are clean in accordance with the contract standards.Use outdoor equipment to maintain grounds, including: water hoses, leaf blower, billy goat etcCleans and maintains all assigned equipment and reports any safety or mechanical concerns to the Lead Worker.Removal of dead animals such as small birdsResponsible for constant outside policing of all buildings and grounds.Other duties as assigned.Other
Duties and Responsibilities:
Ensures that equipment and supplies are maintained in clean and working condition.Responsible for monitoring inventory.Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
Must be able to work long hours outside during the extreme weather conditions of spring, summer and winter months (rain, heat and/or snow).Requires prolonged walking and standing.Frequent bending, reaching and stooping.Must be able to lift, push, pull and carry large, heavy trash containers and bags (approximately 15 pounds).Must be able to work with and around large crowds.Must be able to pick up and remove debris from grounds.Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.Ability to decipher/comprehend signs indicating danger.Must be able to obtain federal security clearance to work at assigned work site.Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous grounds keeping experience.
Note:
Training will be provided on all outdoors equipment and safety guidelines. This job will entail exposure to extreme weather and workers may encounter rodents: rats, mice, squirrels etc.
