Overview
Temporary Washington State Park Aide positions are available in the South Beach Area, including Grayland Beach and Twin Harbors State Parks. Positions are typically 3–5 months in length, beginning May–June. Weeks are generally 40 hours, with the possibility of less‑than‑full‑time work for the entire duration or specific periods.
LocationGrayland Beach State Park – a 412‑acre, year‑round marine camp site on the Pacific coast of Pacific County. Twin Harbors State Park – a 172‑acre coastal park on the Pacific coast of Grays Harbor County, south of Westport.
Work Requirements- Full onsite presence required – telework not eligible.
- Weekend work expected; evenings and holidays may be required.
- Work performed in all weather conditions; physical labor necessary (walking, bending, lifting).
- Ability to work up to 40 hours per week; some positions may offer less.
- Maintain park facilities and perform light routine maintenance and janitorial services.
- Clean and restock restrooms.
- Perform grounds maintenance: mowing, weeding, pruning, raking, litter control.
- Provide park information and greet visitors; answer phones.
- Register campers, collect fees, and prepare deposits.
- Drive light trucks or state vehicles to transport supplies and garbage.
- Clean rental properties and perform general housekeeping duties (washing windows, scrubbing floors, mopping, sweeping).
- Minimum age 17 years.
- Valid (unrestricted) WA driver’s license. Out‑of‑state licenseholders must present proof of a valid and current unrestricted license at the interview.
- Bilingual ability (Spanish preferred).
- Interpret and educate visitors on park rules, local history, and area information.
- Manage multiple projects and maintain organization, communication, and quality.
- Operate hand tools, power tools, and small equipment.
- Perform general maintenance of buildings and facilities.
- Carry out janitorial services including chemical usage.
- Perform extended periods of physical labor and work in all weather.
- Work Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays.
- Diagnose and maintain equipment.
All non‑permanent Park Aides wear a uniform. A complete uniform is provided: two shirts, one baseball cap, and a clothing stipend of $75 per calendar year; some positions may qualify for $150 depending on length.
