Job SummaryTemporary Washington State Park Aide positions are available across the Deception Pass Area, typically lasting 3-5 months, beginning March-June. Positions are 40‑hour weeks but may offer less than full‑time work based on availability.

- Maintain park facilities through routine maintenance and janitorial services.
- Perform grounds maintenance such as cutting grass, weeding, pruning shrubs, raking leaves, picking up litter.
- Maintain lawns using mower, weed eater, trimmer, etc.
- Provide park information to visitors and answer phones.
- Register campers and collect fees, prepare bank transmittals and deposits.
- Perform daily garbage collection and litter control.
- Clean restrooms and restock cleaning supplies.
- Clean rental properties and perform general housekeeping duties.
- Drive light truck or other state vehicle to transport supplies and equipment within park area; haul garbage.
- Other duties as directed by Park Ranger.
- Minimum 17 years old.
- Valid, unrestricted driver’s license (out‑of‑state license must be current at interview).
- Bilingual skills (Spanish preferred).
- Ability to take action to learn and grow.
- Ability to take action to meet needs of others.
- Ability to learn and interpret park rules and local history; educate visitors.
- Ability to manage multiple projects with organization, communication, and quality.
- Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, small equipment.
- Ability to perform general maintenance of buildings and facilities.
- Ability to perform janitorial services, using chemicals.
- Ability to perform physical labor for extended periods.
- Ability to work in all weather conditions.
- Availability to work Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays.
- Ability to learn equipment servicing, diagnosing, and maintenance.
All non‑permanent Park Aides wear a uniform: 2 shirts, 1 baseball cap. Clothing stipend of $75 per calendar year (up to $150 based on length of position).
