Quality Control / Manager, Quality Technician/ Inspector
Summary
Senior level position making final inspection of a wide variety of parts of complicated form with very close tolerances, sub-assemblies and completed units. Plan inspection procedures and methods; make a variety of gauging set‑ups, devise methods of checking unusual parts, determine allowable variations from standard. Make disposition of rejects. Train and assist less experienced inspectors. Assures products meet quality requirements by conducting receiving inspections, first article inspection, in-process inspection;
evaluating finished product by performing the following duties.
- Interprets engineering drawings, schematic diagrams, or specifications and confers with management or engineering staff to verify quality and reliability requirements.
- Selects products for inspection and testing at specified stages in production process; inspects and tests products for attributes and variables such as dimensions, performance, mechanical characteristics, and finish requirements.
- Documents finished product status by recording and summarizing raw materials, in-process, and finished-product inspection and physical test data, updating quality database.
- Performs audits to ensure compliance to QA Manual requirements.
- Ability to use inspection tools such as calipers, scales, micrometer, height gauges, and flat surfaces.
- Experience in using CMM. Able to program and operate a variety of automated and manual digital inspection tools to validate products per drawing and model.
- Experience with FARO, Light Tables, CMM or similar is required.
- Proficient user of computer and various software such as word processing, spreadsheets, database, and graphics.
- Experience with CAD software (Catia, Solid Works, Polyworks, Measure Max, PCdmis, etc.).
- Thorough understanding of manufacturing processes.
- Knowledge of standard drafting format and GD&T.
- Experience with FAI’s, use of Net Inspect and Inspection Xpert preferred.
- Coordinate with other departments/individuals to develop and refine current processes.
This is a journey level position requiring an Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a 2-year college or technical school; and a minimum of 5 years related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills- Ability to read and interpret documents such as statutory rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
- Ability to speak and read Spanish and/or Japanese desired.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Customer OrientationMust demonstrate concern and take actions to meet requirements and high standards of quality of both internal and external customers. Must display courtesy and sensitivity. Manage difficult situations, meet commitments, respond promptly to customer needs, solicit feedback to improve service.
