Part-time (0.8 FTE) Fixed term up to 31 December 2028 (with a possible extension), located on the Camperdown Campus at The Sydney School of Architecture, Design and Planning Exciting opportunity to contribute to an external ARC funded research project in Healthy Homes Base Salary Level A $ 113,634 p.a.

About the opportunity

The Sydney School of Architecture, Design and Planning (ADP) has a strong record in teaching architecture and architectural science and is recognised as an international leader in research in this field.

We are now recruiting a fixed-term Postdoctoral Research Associate in Healthy Homes to support an ARC Discovery Project investigating mould exposure in Australian homes. They will conduct research and scholarly activities under the limited supervision of senior academic staff, and they will assist in the development and management of research activities that investigate how mould prevalence, indoor environmental quality, and occupant health are related across Australian housing types;

including coordinating a year-long field monitoring campaign, collecting and analysing sensor and occupant perception data.

Reporting to Associate Professor Arianna Brambilla , your key responsibilities will be:coordinating participant recruitment and scheduling for the residential monitoring campaign, including liaising directly with householders across Sydney and Melbourne to organise home visits, sensor installation, and follow-up data collection deploying and maintaining wireless IEQ sensor arrays (temperature, relative humidity, CO₂, TVOC, PM2.5) and collecting biological samples (mould air and surface sampling) across study residences conducting quantitative data analysis across multi-site time-series IEQ datasets, including clustering, regression, and statistical modelling to identify environmental predictors of mould growth preparing scientific publications, conference presentations, and project reports for stakeholder audiences supporting ethics applications, data management protocols, and compliance requirements for human subjects’ research.

About youWe are seeking an exceptional Postdoctoral Research Associate in Healthy Homes who has:a PhD or near completion in architectural science, building physics, or similar fields.demonstrated research expertise and an emerging profile in the general IEQ domain, with a focus on healthy buildings excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the confidence and sensitivity to engage with members of the public in their homes.

The following would also be advantageous:experience with IEQ sensing hardware, data acquisition systems, or IoT sensor deployment experience with mould identification, biological sampling, or indoor air quality assessmenta current driver's licence (for field travel between study residences).Sponsorship / work rights for Australia You must have unrestricted work rights in Australia for the duration of this employment to apply.
