Substitute Cook​/Food Service

Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and reliable individual to fill the role of Substitute Cook/Food Service at Onalaska Elementary. This position is essential in ensuring that our students receive nutritious and delicious meals in a safe and welcoming environment. The ideal candidate will be adaptable, possess a passion for food service, and be able to work effectively in a team-oriented setting.

• Prepare and cook meals according to established recipes and guidelines.
• Assist in the setup and serving of food during meal times.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and food service areas.
• Follow food safety and sanitation regulations to ensure a safe dining experience.
• Assist in inventory management, including receiving and storing food supplies.
• Support the regular kitchen staff in their duties as needed.
• Communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents regarding food service operations.
• Participate in training sessions and professional development as required.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by the food service manager or supervisor.

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous experience in food service or kitchen environments is a plus.
• Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
• Ability to follow recipes and instructions accurately.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage time effectively.
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Flexibility to work on short notice and adapt to varying schedules.
