COMPENSATION: $21.30 hourly, payable bi-weekly.

SUPERVISOR: Corps Officers

The Salvation Army is a branch of the Christian Church, and the ultimate goalof all programs is spiritual regeneration of all people.

Responsible for planning, preparing, and serving meals as needed for Corps and Shelter programming

• Plan nutritious meals using food that is donated,commoditiesorpurchased.
• Handle the purchasing of food as needed
• Supervise volunteers as kitchen helpers and servers
• Oversee the cleaning of the kitchen to be sure that Public Health Department regulations are followed
• See that the kitchen ismaintainedin a safe manner
• Oversee the proper storage of food and supplies
• Work with Shelter Supervisor to plan meals for special events(i.e.,Thanksgiving,Mother's Dayetc.) and monthly menus.
• Work with the Social Services Director todeterminewhat product may be used for the program.
• Responsible for gathering/purchasing grab-and-gobreakfastitems, snacks, and easy-to-make lunch items for the shelter program.
• Any other duties related to the running of the meal program that may be assigned

• An understanding and acceptance of The Salvation Army’s mission,philosophy,and practices
• Experience as a cook, in menu planning,purchasing, and food service
• Ability to accurately figure the costs of meals.
• Ability to work independently with good judgment

• Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
• Must have the ability to grab, push, pull, and lift items weighing up to 45lbs.
• Must have the ability to withstand warmer-than-average temperatures.
• Must have the ability to read andcomprehendthe English language.
• Must have the ability to effectively communicate and coordinate efforts with others .

Working Conditions: Workis primarily conducted in a sheltered environment, with occasional outdoor duties. The indoor setting ensures a consistent and predictable work environment, free from the discomfort of inclement weather changes. However, some discomfort may be related to noise, dust, dirt, and similar factors. For the occasional outdoor tasks, please dress according to the weather forecast.

Work Schedule / Location :
This position islocatedat our shelter in Everett, Washington. Upon hire, the assigned schedule will be confirmed based on operational and program needs of the shelter.

Scheduling may vary depending on the shelter operations and program coverage.
