Salary Range: $17.16 - $21.84 Hourly
The shift leader is an hourly position that provides additional management coverage during operating hours and direct supervision of restaurant operations. The role focuses on driving customer service, maintaining high standards of cleanliness, hospitality, accuracy, building maintenance, product quality, and speed of service. The shift leader performs hands‑on operational work, assists in training employees, responds to guest service needs, and models appropriate skills and behaviors.
The shift leader may assume full responsibility for closing the restaurant and, on occasion, opening the restaurant when other management is unavailable. The position ensures food is served safely, consistently satisfies customers, provides the team with a great workplace, and operates each shift to established standards.
- Greet customers with a friendly demeanor and accurately take orders.
- Prepare and package food and drink products according to restaurant standards.
- Operate cash registers, process payments, and provide change to guests.
- Maintain the cleanliness and sanitation of the restaurant, including back‑of‑house, lobby, and restrooms.
- Assist with food prep and dishwashing as needed.
- Restock inventory and supplies.
- Ensure compliance with all food safety regulations and policies.
- Promote new menu items and provide recommendations when asked.
- Assist with opening and closing tasks.
- Manage shifts to ensure fair employee treatment and compliance with workplace laws and regulations.
- Offer ongoing coaching and feedback to team members.
- Assist with any safety concerns in the workplace.
- Report any serious issues to manager and HR as needed.
- Conduct daily food safety and prep audits.
- Conduct daily inventory monitoring and share responsibility for cash procedures.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Strong preference for an internal candidate who has completed all required learning‑zone training and certifications.
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Minimum of six months in a shift management or supervisory role, preferably in a service‑related business.
- Legal right to work in the United States.
- Ability to work flexible hours.
- Basic math and reading skills.
- Solid oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to learn quickly with a can‑do attitude.
- Comes to work with good hygiene.
- Reliable transportation and ability to arrive on time.
- Positive, friendly, and courteous attitude.
