General

Purpose

The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring our Customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate greets all Customers with a courteous and friendly manner, treats fellow Associates with respect, follows all company best‑practice standards, maintains a clean work area, and ensures proper merchandise presentation. The Associate may be requested to perform additional tasks to support customer service and operational goals.

Functions
  • Understands that safety is the number one priority and practices safe behaviors in everything they do.
  • Maintains high awareness on the sales floor to create a safe and secure shopping environment, keeps egress clear, and reports unsafe conditions.
  • Treats all Customers and Associates with respect and courtesy, greets them with eye contact, a smile, and a friendly greeting, and says “thank you” at every transaction.
  • Assists Customers with merchandise, answers questions, and handles Customer Service calls promptly and courteously.
  • Represents and supports the Company brand at all times.
  • Performs cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, wiping counters and mirrors, and replenishing restroom supplies to maintain a clean store environment.
  • Performs daily assigned sizing and recovery per company best practice to keep the store neat, clean, and efficiently merchandised.
  • Expedites newly received merchandise to the sales floor, merchandises all items per presentation guidelines, and maintains brand familiarity within departments.
  • Understands the Loss Prevention Awareness program, the Shortage Highway, the Store Protection Specialist (SPS) position (where applicable), and merchandise protection standards.
  • Demonstrates integrity and honesty in all interactions; safeguards confidential information, cash, and credit card information.
  • Follows all Mark‑Out‑of‑Stock (MOS) policies and notifies Store Leadership for disposal approval.
  • Handles cash, check, charge card, and refund transactions accurately and follows all related policies.
  • Demonstrates a sense of urgency, maximizes productivity, and minimizes unnecessary steps in workflow.

Qualifications and Special Skills Required
  • Effectively communicate with Customers, Associates, and Store Leadership in a friendly, respectful, cooperative, and pleasant manner.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.
Physical Requirements / ADA
  • Use all Store equipment, including PDTs, registers, and PC as required.
  • Stand, walk, and move around the Store for up to 100% of working time.
  • Bend at the waist, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop regularly.
  • Occasionally push, pull, and lift more than 25 pounds.
  • Use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders, and other assigned supplies.
  • Certain assignments may require additional qualifications and skills.
  • Stockroom shifts: push, pull, and lift more than 20 pounds regularly.
