Job Title:
Construction & Maintenance Project Specialist

Position works four (4) days a week, 10 hours per day. Core working hours are typically 7:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m., Monday – Thursday. This position requires travel and overnight travel between parks and statewide for meetings, training, and other field work.
Responsibilities- Performs journey level work in construction, maintenance and repair work, preventative maintenance, and deferred maintenance projects.
- Performs journey level work in equipment operations, repair, improvement projects, carpentry, masonry, roofing, plumbing, and electrical trades.
- Maintains, constructs, and remodels buildings, trail infrastructure, and other facilities.
- Responds to and repairs maintenance related emergencies and urgencies.
- Responsible for light and heavy equipment maintenance and repair, including, inspects, diagnoses, makes needed repairs to equipment, vehicles, and industrial/commercial equipment.
- Inspects, diagnoses and makes needed repairs to equipment such as: vehicles (including those over 15,000 GVW), specialty vehicles such as tracked snow groomers, power shovels, graders, backhoes, dozers, heavy trucks and accessories, snow blowers, loaders, rollers, sweepers, oil distributors, catch basin cleaners, and all other state-owned equipment used in highway maintenance and engineering.
- Responsible for heavy equipment operation, transportation, maintenance, repair, and staff training in equipment safety and use.
- Purchases materials required to complete projects adhering with purchasing regulations and work.
- Prepares cost estimates for vehicle/equipment construction, alteration, installation, repair, and maintenance projects.
- Maintains shop records and inventory; stays up to date on electronic communication (email) and online work schedule.
- Four (4) years of advanced level experience in two (2) or more of the construction/building trades to include: building maintenance, repair, remodeling, construction duties, and mechanical/machinery operation and a high school graduation or GED and a valid unrestricted (other than corrective lenses) driver's license and a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with a valid medical certification must be obtained within the first 12 months of employment and a first aid/CPR certification that must be obtained within the first 24 months of employment.

- Two (2) years as a Maintenance Mechanic 1 and a high school graduation or GED and a valid unrestricted (other than corrective lenses) driver's license and a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with a valid medical certification must be obtained within the first 12 months of employment and a first aid/CPR certification that must be obtained within the first 24 months of employment.

- A combination of up to two (2) years of technical or vocational training or education in a building/construction trade AND advanced level experience in two (2) or more of the construction/building trades to include: building maintenance, repair, remodeling, construction duties, and mechanical/machinery operation equaling at least four (4) years combined experience and a high school graduation or GED and a valid unrestricted (other than corrective lenses) driver's license and a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with a valid medical certification must be obtained within the first 12 months of employment and a first aid/CPR certification that must be obtained within the first 24 months of employment.
