About Everett Ship Repair (ESR)

Everett Ship Repair is the Pacific Northwest’s Premiere Ship Repair Facility. Founded in 2019, ESR offers vast ship repair capabilities from its facility in Everett, Washington, including repair, maintenance, and conversion services for any type of commercial vessels, with focus on commercial workboats and passenger vessels. With the US Navy as a neighbor, ESR is aggressively pursuing Navy business as it grows its footprint, skills, and profile in the market.

ESR strives to continuously improve its repair and construction methods into efficient and reliable processes, building a progressive learning environment for skilled tradesmen.

Apprenticeship Program

ESR sponsors approved state apprenticeship programs in the following trades:
Marine Pipe fitters, Marine Painters, Machinery Assemblers, Production Welders, Ship Fitter/Fabricators and Electricians. The program develops a sustainable core workforce of journey persons with on‑the‑job and trade knowledge necessary to fill vital workforce gaps. Apprentices receive employment, education, and training under experienced journeymen and technical experts, with classroom instruction that meets Washington Department of Labor & Industries requirements. Apprentices must maintain a minimum cumulative average of 80%;

failure will result in removal from the program. Classroom hours are unpaid and occur on or before the regular paid hours.

What You Will Do
  • Responsible for safe work practices and housekeeping procedures.
  • Work as a member of a team, demonstrating skills to adapt, interpret, and problem solve.
  • Express ideas concisely and clearly, both orally and in writing.
  • Perform other tasks as directed.
Once Admitted to Apprenticeship, Duties Will Include
  • Regular attendance during classes and presentations.
  • Demonstrate competence by performing practical exams and completing required class work and tests.
  • Record and track on‑the‑job training (OJT) hours daily.
  • Obtain journeyman or above sign‑off on hours weekly.
  • Submit monthly hours tracking forms to supervisors.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 18 years of age or older at time of application.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs and work at heights of 60 ft, in confined spaces, and in small work spaces at odd angles.
  • Ability to understand and perform basic mathematics.
  • Knowledge of basic hand and power tools.
  • Willingness to learn the trade and attend required training.
  • Experience using Safe Work Practices.
  • Ability to attend 144–216 hours per year of classroom training (no hourly wage compensation).
  • Experience working around heavy machinery and equipment and as a member of a team.
  • Successfully completed a craft‑related technical training program or have equivalent craft work experience.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to take instructions.
  • Personal attributes: interest in the selected trade, commitment to self‑development, quality, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to provide proof of U.S. Person Status.
  • Willingness to submit to a drug screen and background check.
  • No felony convictions of theft/deception, drug crimes, or violent crimes.
  • Academic ability to succeed in the program.
  • Motivation to continuously improve knowledge and skills.
  • Integrity to complete all assigned academic work independently.
  • Reliability in task accomplishment and time keeping.
