Position Responsibilities
  • Obtain work assignments from Team Leader, Plan Of the Day, CMMS, online systems or other sources.
  • Obtain appropriate electrical drawings (wiring diagrams, schematics, manufacturing, project administrator sketches).
  • Determine if the system should be shut down or work performed with power on; lock out, tag out, try out equipment and related systems as required.
  • Perform primary and secondary tests on electrical breakers during routine maintenance; replace, update, and retrofit breakers as required.
  • Perform routine tests on high voltage switches and relays using hi potential test equipment; replace switch or relay as required.
  • Troubleshoot electric motors using appropriate test equipment.
  • Monitor current, voltage, amperage, frequency, and watts at sub‑stations using the online computing system.
  • Check and service electrical systems using infrared analysis to locate hot spots in service panels, boxes, transformers, etc.
  • Use laptop or HMI screens to program or troubleshoot PLC and VFD‑controlled systems on building and portable equipment.
  • Service and maintain electrical systems of various types of overhead cranes and gantries.
  • Operate, install electrical systems and perform functional tests of building and/or plant equipment in hazardous and non‑hazardous locations.
  • Install and maintain all types of lighting fixtures; clean and check sockets, replace ballast and bulb as required.
  • Run high voltage electrical cable from substation to unit station, cut and splice cable, test cable resistance using a hipot.
  • Install raceways (conduit cable tray) and associated fittings.
  • Pull wire of various gauge and color through conduit using fish tape or tugger; terminate field wiring to devices.
  • Verify functionality of installations, ensuring compliance with NEC, NFPA, and WAC codes.
  • Maintain clear and understandable documentation for communication across shifts.
  • Maintain personal certifications and tool certifications as required.
  • Handle and dispose of hazardous materials in an approved manner.
  • Evaluate job requirements (wire size, electrical load, conduit) with engineering as required.
  • Work with other crafts (millwrights, transportation, plumbers, mechanics, vendors) in an appropriate sequence.
  • Direct lower‑graded employees when assisting with electrical work.
  • Operate mechanical lifts of various types to access work areas.
  • Install, crimp, terminate, and solder using appropriate tools.
  • Establish and verify voltage, amperage, frequency, and watts using test equipment.
  • Maintain UPS, batteries, battery chargers, and battery maintenance systems.
Physical Demands and Potential Hazards
  • Lifting weights ranging from 10–15 lbs to 15–35 lbs.
  • Reaching, handling, turning, twisting, lifting, lowering, climbing, balancing, bending, kneeling, crouching, and squatting.
  • Work in environments involving contact with metals, solvents, and coolants.
  • Operate near moving parts and tools, sharp cutters, and potential slipping hazards.
  • Adapt to varying noise levels and atmospheric conditions.
  • Use personal safety gear to protect face/eyes, hands/arms, and feet.
Basic Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience reading and understanding engineering drawings, blueprints, schematics, and specifications.
  • 5+ years of experience working with precision measuring tools.
  • 5+ years of experience using hand tools and/or hand‑held power tools.
  • 5+ years of experience using basic math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
  • 5+ years of experience working with industrial voltage electrical systems.
  • Basic computer experience and competency.
  • Physically able to lift/carry up to 35 lbs; push/pull using up to 45 lbs of force; reach overhead up to six hours per day.
Education

High school graduate or GED preferred.

Pay

$41.00 /hour, potential to earn up to $61.01 /hour under the applicable collective bargaining agreement.

Drug‑free workplace: employees may be tested for substance use. This position is governed by the International Association of Machinists (IAM‑751) Collective Bargaining agreement. The role is for a variety of shifts. Export Control compliance requires the candidate to be a “US Person.” Visa sponsorship is not provided.
