Versar seeks a Liquid Fuels Mechanic with knowledge and experience to support United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) recurring maintenance and minor repair (RMMR) task orders. The role involves site maintenance of fuel systems, troubleshooting discrepancies, minor construction, preventive and corrective maintenance, and repair projects under the direction of the RMMR Site Manager.
What You’ll Do- Perform routine maintenance inspections at U.S. military locations, planning recurring maintenance activities.
- Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain Class I, II, and III hydrant systems and supporting equipment.
- Maintain fuel storage tanks, including inspection reports for pressure changes, leaks, corrosion, and other circumstances.
- Support development of scopes of work for repair and modification service orders for DoD fuel facilities, using UFC 3‑460‑01, API Standard 650, and applicable UFGS.
- Diagnose and correct problems using test equipment, equipment history, and industry standards to prevent fuel spills.
- Review repair specifications and procurement to ensure compliance with contractual and material requirements.
- Maintain and document all maintenance activities in a centrally managed maintenance management system.
- Build good working relationships with coworkers and military management; investigate and adjust customer complaints regarding fuel system maintenance.
- Maintain knowledge of military standards, UFCs, EM‑385‑1‑1, OSHA, EPA, and other industry standards.
- Adhere to health and safety requirements and meet the highest quality standards expected.
- Perform other duties as prescribed by management.
- 2–5 years of liquid fuels maintenance or construction experience on fuel systems such as marine loading arms, bulk fuel facilities, hot pit fueling systems, gas station dispensing systems, cathodic protection systems, and leak detection systems.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel) and uploading daily/weekly field reports with photos to cloud‑based information management systems.
- Ability to learn Quick Base, eMaint, MaintainX, Timberland, or similar software managing information and schedules.
- OSHA 30 and/or HAZWOPER training preferred.
- CPR/First Aid certification preferred.
- Experience with equipment operation and power tools.
- Knowledge of mechanical and electrical equipment.
- Active, unrestricted driver’s license.
- Proficient in English, both written and verbal.
- Successful completion of pre‑employment screenings: federal background check, MVR, and drug screen.
- Compliance with company drug and alcohol policy.
- Authorized to work in the U.S. or will be by the start date.
- Communicate verbally with internal and external clients, exercising good judgment and conflict resolution.
- Work independently and be self‑motivated, meeting timelines and goals.
- Apply minor mathematical concepts and conduct problem solving.
- Adapt quickly to changing situations while maintaining effectiveness.
This position requires ascending and descending ladders, scaffolds, and stairs, sometimes working in confined spaces and in loud environments. Workers must lift and carry up to 50 pounds, respond quickly to sounds and dangerous situations, and wear personal protective gear most of the day. The role requires sitting, standing, walking, and having good visual and depth perception.
Travel Requirements- Frequent on‑site attendance; reliable transportation and a current, valid driver’s license with proof of insurance are required.
