Position: Building Engineer | Full-Time | Angel Of The Winds Arena

Position

Summary

This position is based at the Angel Of The Winds Arena in Everett, WA. The Building Engineer is part of our Engineering Department and maintains all facility systems and equipment. The role pays an hourly rate of $30.00–$32.00.

Venue Overview

Angel Of The Winds Arena was developed and is owned by the Everett Public Facilities District. The arena is a three‑venue, state‑of‑the‑art multi‑purpose complex in downtown Everett, WA, managed by Oak View Group.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain, operate, and repair all systems at the Everett Events Center, including HVAC, electrical/lighting, mechanical and plumbing, refrigeration equipment, ice floors, cooling towers, boilers, water pumps, and building control systems.
  • Coordinate event support with operations, contractors, and clients; monitor and guide contractor work on building projects.
  • Participate in project and maintenance planning for facility infrastructure; identify and resolve problems; monitor workflow; review and evaluate projects, methods, and procedures.
  • Track expenditures for equipment, materials, and supplies; manage supplies and materials within budget; receive and maintain supplies.
  • Obtain Chief Engineer approval before ordering non‑trivial supplies.
  • Ensure compliance with hazardous materials communication programs, material safety data sheets, and required records, permits, and regulatory changes.
  • Maintain a safe work environment at all times.
  • Participate in emergency response, including fire alarms and power outages; wear proper PPE where appropriate.
  • Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.
  • Display a calm, respectful demeanor when dealing with coworkers, patrons, or event personnel.
  • Drive a company vehicle to pick up parts, materials, or supplies as needed to support business operations.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 2–3 years building maintenance experience; experience in plumbing, electrical, building repair, and carpentry preferred.
  • Experience in an ice arena, sports & entertainment, or hospitality industry strongly preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Valid Washington State driver’s license and good driving record.
  • Certified forklift operator; specialized training/experience in HVAC and related system maintenance preferred.
  • Certifications required: 07 Electrical License;
    Refrigeration unlimited—ammonia systems (06 Refrigeration License preferred); 4th grade or higher Steam Engineers’ license.
  • EPA CFC Universal preferred.
  • Ability to lift heavy objects and climb ladders.
  • Must be able to wear respiratory equipment.
  • Experience with power and hand tools.
  • Familiarity with OSHA safety policies.
  • Must work independently and under minimal supervision.
  • Flexible for evenings, weekends, and holidays; must be on call as needed.
  • Strong sense of urgency to address safety, maintenance, operational, and security issues.
  • Safe work from heights using ladders, scissor lifts, boom lifts, etc.
  • Ready to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
