Diesel Technician/Mechanic III - Entry Level
Ready to accelerate your career while helping our customers move forward? As a Technician at Penske, you will perform preventative maintenance and minor repairs on the newest and best maintained fleet of vehicles in the industry, helping customers keep their vehicles in shape and on the road.

Main Responsibilities- Make sure vehicles are maintained and safe for customers.
- Use Penske’s tools and technologies to log, research, and complete repairs, including basic vehicle diagnostics.
- Perform preventative maintenance repairs such as tire replacement/rotation, component lubrication and replacement, electrical system repairs, and cooling system maintenance on gasoline and diesel engine vehicles.
- Partner with your manager to learn new skills through Penske’s technician training and hands‑on coaching.

- High school diploma or equivalent preferred; vocational or technical certification in vehicle repair preferred.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and 1–2 years of automotive or diesel repair experience (preferred).
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to solve problems and comfortably use tools.
- Excellent customer service skills and communication skills.
- Ability to work well as part of a team and outside.
- Basic computer skills.
- Understand and comply with specific instructions, guidelines, rules, regulations, or other information established by Penske management.
- Adhere to DOT, OSHA, and Penske safety and maintenance policies, including proper use of tools, PPE, machine guarding, and best safety practices.
- Regular, predictable, full attendance.
- Ability to maintain a current driver qualification file required by DOT; includes annual MVR check, DOT physical, and safety performance history inquiries. CDL holders must undergo DOT Drug Screening within 30 days of start and be subject to FMCSA Clearinghouse review.
- Willingness to work required schedule, be located at the specific place, complete application, background screening (criminal checks, past employment and education), pass drug screen and physical, and possible travel for training.
- Ability to work safely at heights using ladders and elevated platforms, in all weather conditions, seeing and hearing to navigate the workplace, and lifting or moving up to 50 lbs (23 kg) regularly and up to 100 lbs (45 kg) occasionally, including pushing/pulling truck tires that exceed 100 lbs.
- Move frequently, stand, walk, climb, bend, and sit for extended periods during scheduled work.
- Use hands routinely to grasp, reach, touch, handle, and operate required tools or controls.
- Work safely at heights with ladders or elevated platforms.
- Work outside in all weather conditions.
- See and hear to navigate the work environment safely.
- Lift or move up to 50 lbs (23 kg) regularly and up to 100 lbs (45 kg) occasionally, and push/pull truck tires that exceed 100 lbs.
