Overview
Safran is seeking mechanically inclined technicians who enjoy hands‑on problem solving. You will work directly on commercial aircraft, supporting seat installations and resolving issues during aircraft assembly and delivery. This is an opportunity to gain aerospace experience, travel, interact with major aviation customers, and build a long‑term career in aviation technical support.
Field Service Technician II – Occupational SummaryThe Field Service Technician II provides on‑site support at the Air Framer for Safran Aerospace Seats pertaining to interiors manufactured in USA, France and Great Britain. The team of Field Service Technicians assists Air Framer / Airline customers during the build of the Aircraft specific to installation issues, damaged parts, re‑working pickups, cosmetic defects and any customer relations issues. Rework areas include:
Receiving, BFE, Factory and Flight line for all built Aircraft with Safran Seats product. All re‑work performed at the Air Framer must adhere to Safran Seats drawings, specifications and specific re‑work instructions. This position works under general supervision, reports to the OSS Manager daily, handles moderately complex issues and refers more advanced problems to higher‑level technicians.
- Rework and stamp pickups self‑identified and/or written by Air Framer and/or customer during the Build of the Aircraft.
- Replace and troubleshoot faulty electronic components and other damaged parts, adjust misaligned panels/trims, provide assistance to the Air Framer seat installation team and other miscellaneous tasks given.
- Sustain a high quality level of workmanship at all times.
- Respond promptly to all communication (telephone, etc.) with Air Framer personnel and customers.
- Maintain a good rapport with Air Framer personnel and customers.
- Follow Safran / Air Framer safety guidelines or processes established by the organization at all times.
- Submit accurate part order requests and understand the POA / SOA process at Air Framer / Safran.
- Drive the company van and other technicians safely around Air Framer/Safran Facilities.
- Attend Safran daily stand‑up/tie‑in meeting.
- Adhere to Air Framer / Safran training requirements that relate to Flight line, Safety and other courses over the year.
- Coordinate verbally with QA, Engineers, Leads, Technicians and other key Air Framer / Safran personnel on a daily basis.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Associate’s degree in a related technical field preferred.
- At least 2 years of Field Service experience related to troubleshooting and repairs required.
- Natural mechanical ability with hand and power tools.
- Basic working knowledge of CMMs, Engineering Drawings, and other technical documents.
- Basic computer knowledge and familiarity with MS Office applications.
- Proficient using smart phones & tablets daily to send emails, pictures and other applications.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain a passport.
- Ability to work efficiently under stressful situations.
- Follows instructions and completes jobs in a timely manner.
- Customer service essential; excellent communication skills, verbally and written.
- Availability to work various hours, after hours and weekends as needed.
- Ability to maintain multiple tasks simultaneously, including managing assignments from more than one customer during any given day.
- Willingness to travel to other Air Framer FALs in other states and other international Safran sites on occasion.
- Ability to generate written communication and operate required office equipment.
- Ability to read and review written communication.
- Clear speech and hearing abilities allowing communication clearly and distinctly in English.
- Hands‑on electrical troubleshooting knowledge (testing voltage and continuity).
- Demonstrated participation in continuous improvement efforts.
- Clear written and verbal communication.
International and/or Domestic travel required; approximately 2‑4 weeks per year.
