Description

This is an in‑person temporary position, Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM at the Denney Juvenile Justice Center in Everett, WA. The anticipated end date is 31 Dec 2026.

Responsibilities
  • Formulate case management intervention plans and make recommendations for placement and referral of incarcerated and/or probationary individuals; monitor court orders and diversion agreements for compliance; formulate responses to non‑compliance.
  • Conduct and score risk assessment interviews to gather information on client and family, identify risk factors, and develop intervention plans to reduce risk and enhance protective factors; update risk assessment documentation.
  • Lead, teach, and facilitate classes, clinics and programs for youth and/or parents offered by the Juvenile Court Services.
  • Conduct one‑to‑one, parental, family and/or group counseling sessions; prepare cases and participate in hearings for court appearances; review and keep all caseload records.
  • Mediated crisis situations; monitored client behavior; conducted chemical dependency screenings, suicide and mental health screens; evaluated and determined classification of youth in detention.
  • Enforced probation and/or program rules; administered diagnostic tests; prepared reports and completed required forms and documents.
  • Collaborated with boards, officials and professionals on status of probationary and/or incarcerated juveniles; monitored recreational and/or employment activities of offenders.
  • Performed public relations work; trained volunteers; collected program evaluation data; served as liaison between clients and criminal justice system components.
  • Collected, monitored and processed urinalysis tests.
  • Other duties as required.
Qualifications
  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with major coursework in psychology, social work, counseling, law and justice, or related field.
  • At least one year of experience in case planning, interviewing, service delivery or counseling in a social service agency; or equivalent combination of training and experience providing the required knowledge and abilities.
  • Ability to express ideas and recommendations effectively orally and in writing.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with clients, professionals, public and private officials, and the general public.
  • Ability to make presentations to large and small groups.
  • Ability to diffuse potentially volatile situations.
  • Knowledge of basic interviewing, diagnostic, and counseling techniques; individual and group behavior; crisis intervention skills; literature and developments in the social service area; judicial and criminal justice system;
    Washington State Courts and juvenile justice system; child development theory and effective parenting principles; functions and resources of social and health services agencies.
Special Requirements
  • Valid Washington State driver’s license.
  • Successful completion of a criminal background investigation, reference verification, polygraph examination, psychological examination and physical examination.
  • Successful completion of Washington State Criminal Justice Training Commission – Juvenile Services Academy within six (6) months of employment.
  • Certification in WAJCA Assessment Tool within twelve (12) months of employment.
